About the book
When attorney Mira Cardwell inherits a California vineyard and discovers that the land remembers more than it should, she is forced to confront long-buried truths about her family, her identity, and the life she thought she had chosen.
Blending women’s fiction, family mystery, romance, and a thread of light speculative intrigue, The Vines Remember is written for readers who believe our lives can surprise us—even after we thought we knew the story would end.
The opening chapter of The Vines Remember received second place in the Alabama Writers’ Cooperative’s 2026 First Chapter of a Novel Contest.
Publishing May 25, 2027, in print, eBook, and audiobook.
Meet Lea Holland
Lea Holland writes book-club fiction about inheritance, identity, reinvention, and the enduring pull of place. After more than twenty-five years as a marketing and strategic partnerships executive, she pivoted to writing The Vines Remember in her late fifties, during a period shaped by personal loss, profound reinvention, and the new understanding that followed a late-in-life neurodivergence diagnosis.
An Arizona native, Lea lives in Chandler, Arizona, with her husband and appropriately opinionated cat, Charlie. Her love of California wine country, and her fascination with the stories carried by families, memory, and the land itself, inspired her debut novel.
Lea looks forward to joining book clubs for thoughtful, lively conversations about the novel, and perhaps a glass of wine.
